How to drift in Mario Kart World

To drift in Mario Kart World, press and hold the R or ZRbutton to hop into the air and turn to the left or right to perform a drift. Make sure to not immediately let go of your drift because you’ll get a mini-turbo if you hold your drift long enough to see sparks. As soon as you let go of the drift, the mini-turbo will activate, launching you ahead.
If you hold your drift for a longer period of time, you’ll get a stronger mini-turbo. There are three different stages of mini-turbo, which can be identified by the different colored sparks by your rear wheels:
- Mini-turbo — Blue sparks
- Super mini-turbo — Orange sparks
- Ultra mini-turbo — Rainbow sparks
Now that you’ve learned how to drift, it’s time to master the new techniques — charge jump, rail ride and wall ride. Make sure to use rewind to save yourself some time!
